Play in the Puddles

Anyone who has planned an event outdoors knows the chal

lenges of dealing with the weather, especially in Maine. When life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles!

From hosting a party to planning a wedding or running a business event, the outdoors can be beautiful in the summer if the sun shines.

Fifteen years ago, we had this idea to get married on House Island, but at the last minute, we moved it to The Portland Club. Thank goodness, as it did rain the whole weekend. Of course, we know that's good luck!

Later, I set a date, hired a photographer, and picked great spots along the Bayside trails for a photo shoot 5 years ago for social media promos for a Woman's Retreat Event. However, the day came, and so did the rain. The umbrella became the prop of the day!

Fast forward to this spring, when we lost our gym, yet the classes needed to go on. I had this great idea to teach classes in the park overlooking Back Cove this summer. Never in a million years did I think it would play out like this.

It has now been raining for over 6 weeks. We have had to reschedule classes EVERY week.
